Apply for admission to WSU
Independent Study Application Process
Prerequisites
Step 1: Apply to WSU
Step 2: ARRT Certification and General Education
- Applicants must be ARRT certified to apply.
- We highly suggest that you complete an AA or AS before your independent study coursework. While not required for admission into the program, a previous AA, AS, or bachelor's degree will fulfill Weber State University's general education requirements for a bachelor's degree. AAS degrees typically do not fulfill all the necessary general education requirements.
Step 3: Review Your Transfer Credits
The Independent Study program is an online option for previously-certified technologists who are working full-time in their advanced modality.
Applicants must have at least an AAS degree from a regionally-accredited institution to be eligible to apply. Contact the WSU Admissions Office before applying at (801) 626-6743 to find out if your previous credit will transfer. If your previous credit does not transfer, you are not eligible for the Independent Study program.
Please contact Pamela Berg at RadIND@weber.edu or (801) 626-6619 before submitting an application if you have any questions.

Independent Study ARRT Remediation Program
- We are not accepting applications at this time.
We're excited to be updating our curriculum for the Independent Study ARRT Remediation program to provide a more comprehensive educational experience and to have a certificate approved and placed on student transcripts upon completion. We anticipate all curricular changes and contracts will be finalized by the Summer of 2026. This will allow us to welcome our next cohort of students for Independent Study in the new Radiography Eligibility Certificate Program as early as Fall of 2026. We recognize that this may be an unintended wait for some of you, but we know the outcome will be the best for everyone!
We appreciate your patience and look forward to helping you on your journey to renewing your eligibility for the ARRT examination.
2. Wait for Confirmation and Further Instructions
3. Register for Class
Once the Independent Study Manager has sent you the academic contract, you may register for classes by contacting WSU Continuing Education at (801) 626-6600. Please have your W Number ready before calling.
Upon registering for a course, you will have six months to complete the course. We encourage students to complete their courses sooner, if possible.
