ARIZONA RADIOGRAPHY PROGRAMS

 

The School of Radiologic Sciences at Weber State University’s Dumke College of Health Professions has partnered with Banner Health and HonorHealth in Arizona in order to advance student's education and careers in Radiologic Sciences. This career ladder opportunity assists students in obtaining training, education, and certifications.

The School of Radiologic Sciences offers nearly 60 years of educational experience in medical imaging.  Our programs combine classroom instruction and clinical practice taught by highly motivated and nationally recognized faculty.  We provide the knowledge and skills you need to work in clinical settings, move up the career ladder, and pursue advanced certifications and degrees.

Accreditation

The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) recognizes Weber State University's Radiologic Sciences programs as meeting national professional standards.  WSU is a member of the American Council on Education and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and is accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges and the Utah State Board of Regents.

Tuition Cost

Tuition for all AZ students is a flat rate of $3300 per semester.

The School of Radiologic Sciences has affiliated with Banner Health and HonorHealth as a “Premier Partner” in education. These Partnerships offer this educational opportunity at a significant discount to HonorHealth/Banner Health Employees by reducing tuition by 20%. Currently, that equates to a $660 dollar saving each semester.

Verification of employment must be provided to receive the discounted tuition rate.

  • 1. Practical Technologist in Radiography (PTR)

    Prepares you for the Practical Technologist in Radiography Examination (PTR) t
    hrough the State of Arizona. 


    The School of Radiologic Sciences offers the PTR program to assist students in advancing both their education and careers in Radiologic Sciences. This career ladder opportunity assists MA’s and other healthcare employees in obtaining certification as a Practical Technologist in Radiology (PTR) in the state of Arizona.

    If a student chooses to continue on to get their Associates of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology (AAS) degree through Weber State University, they can take classes that will be credited towards their degree. This is called our PTR to RT Degree Completion Program (see 2 below). Students can only be placed in track if clinical site placement is available.

    Please Note: the Arizona PTR program is not eligible for Financial Aid.

  • 2. ARRT Degree Completion (PTR to RT)

    Prepares you for the Radiologic Technologist Examination (RT) through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
     


    The Weber State School of Radiologic Sciences' Arizona Degree Completion program allows a Limited Practical Technologist in Radiology (PTR) to transfer in and complete their Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree.  Upon completion, the student will be eligible to take the national certification examination given by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a radiologic technologist and be prepared to work as a radiologic technologist or radiographer.

  • 3. AAS Radiography Degree Pathway


    For those who are interested in doing the full Associate of Applied Science in Radiography degree program from start to finish, you will want to start with the PTR Program (see 1 above), and you will then have the option to roll directly into the Degree Completion program (see 2 above).


ENROLLMENT AND REGISTRATION


  To be considered for admission to an Arizona Radiological Sciences program, please follow the steps below >>


  • Step 1: Apply to WSU


    Apply to Weber State University.

    Weber State University (WSU) is an open-enrollment university, you can apply anytime by visiting the link above and following the application steps. Once you are admitted to WSU, you will receive a letter with your W number and can create your e-weber account.

    Fill out the online application Pay a $30 nonrefundable application fee Submit the following: Official high school transcripts or GED documentation, ACT/SAT scores (not mandatory but helps determine general education placement), and transcripts from all college, university, and/or early college.

  • Step 2: Check Your Application Status


    When you submit your Weber application, you’ll receive an email detailing any required documentation you need to send. Once Admissions receives all required documentation, they will review your application. This usually takes 3–5 days, but it may take up to two weeks.

    You will receive an acceptance letter in the mail when you’re admitted to Weber State University. If you have not heard from Admissions after two weeks, please contact the Admissions Office at admissions@weber.edu.

     

     

     

     

     

     

  • Step 3: Create your eWeber Account


    Once you receive your WSU Acceptance letter you will visit Weber's What's Next page for information on creating your eWeber Account.

    Your eWeber Account allows you to:

    • Register for classes
    • Check your transcript
    • Use CatTracks to track your progress to graduation
    • Access your student email account
    • Pay tuition
    • Review your grades
    • Perform many other tasks related to your education at WSU 

     

     

     

  • Step 4: Prepare to Apply to the Program


    To apply you will need the following:

    1. Your Weber Student Email
    2. Your W Number (include the W)
    3. Official or Unofficial Transcript(s), including WSU transcripts
    4. Medical/Health-Related Certifications (if any) 
      These do not need to be currently active. You must attach proof of certification. Examples include CNA, LPT, EMT, CPT, etc.
    5. Proposed Clinical Site
      - You must include a letter from the clinical site you plan on learning at, stating they are willing to take you as a student. It is the student's responsibility to provide all documentation, proof of courses completed, and/or degrees awarded.
      - If you don't have a clinical site in hand, you will have the option within the application to select preferred locations for placement.
    6. Personal Essay
      A prompt will be given in the application.
    7. References 
      We just need their email addresses (gmail.com, yahoo.com, outlook.com, hotmail.com addresses work best)
  • Step 5: Apply to the Right Program


    Apply for Limited Practical License (PTR)
    For students who do not currently possess a Practical Technologist in Radiography (PTR) certification.

    PTR Program applications are accepted starting November 1st, and are due by March 1st of every year, with classes starting Fall semester.


    Apply for ARRT Degree Completion Program (PTR to RT)
    For students who have already obtained their PTR certification.

    ARRT Program applications are accepted starting in September, and are due by November 1st of each year, with classes starting Summer semester.

  • Step 6: Check Email for Acceptance


    If you are accepted you will receive a letter in your Weber Student Email from the School of Radiologic Sciences.

    Attached will be an Acceptance Agreement, which must be signed and returned.

    Once this is completed, your onboarding process can begin, which includes CastleBranch immunizations, drug testing, and background check. 

    You will then be sent the list of classes you should register for!
