Studying Musical Theatre at Weber State

A musical theatre degree from Weber State means endless possibilities. With alumni on Broadway, running their own theaters, writing musicals and everything in between, wherever you are headed, the place to start is here.

Musical Theatre Highlights

The musical theatre program at Weber State provides intense training in acting, singing and dancing, while encouraging you to explore your own interests along the way. Musical theatre majors experience all aspects of theatre and enhance their class work through on-stage and off-stage assignments. Weber’s dedication to new works allows students to actively shape the future of the art, while developing crucial skills for success.

Beyond the Classroom

Weber State University Theatre produces two plays and two musicals each year. While earning your degree, you can also take part in new play readings, student-directed productions, in-class performances, the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and our student organization activities. Join us, and you’ll see there are plenty of ways to get involved.

What You’ll Learn at Weber

As a musical theatre major, you’ll develop the skills necessary to begin your theatrical career. Our majors study a variety of acting methods (Viewpoints, Suzuki, Meisner), dance styles (ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip hop), plus vocal technique and music theory. They develop crucial practical skills such as stage presence, oral presentation, audition technique, networking skills, entrepreneurship and personal branding. Most importantly, Weber State grads are known for their outstanding work ethic, professional communication and creative spirit.

What You Can Do After Weber

Our musical theatre graduates work all over the world in local, regional and national theaters, Broadway, film, cruise ships, theme parks and other venues. Many students pursue graduate studies and earn additional degrees, while others become theatre teachers and professors, arts administrators, or designers and technicians. With a musical theatre degree from Weber State, your options are only limited by your own imagination.
