Faculty Perspective

Our degree is an innovative interdisciplinary program that helps blaze the way for the study of film that avoids narrow disciplinary foci, and it also trains students with job-specific skills as well as the more traditional skill sets that the general public would recognize as found in a well-rounded individual.

Hal Crimmel

Students majoring in film studies take classes from all five departments in the College of Arts & Humanities to get a rich learning experience. Their communication classes will focus on making narrative and documentary films, as well as social media and corporate content. The communication faculty members teaching these classes all have extensive experience making their own films and working in industry.
