Sam Arce is a Chemical Engineering PhD candidate at BYU with 6 years of hands-on experience working in the mining industry. His areas of expertise include Process Control, Machine Learning, A.I., Data Science, and Optimization. Sam's academic contributions consist of numerous peer-reviewed publications in Environmental Science & Pollution Research and algorithms for machine learning, remote sensing, and automated UAV missions. In 2022, his work on Transferable Process Automation won first place in the BYU 3-Minute Thesis Competition for the College of Engineering, as well as the People's Choice Award at the university level. Sam is driven by a heartfelt desire to innovate for the betterment of humanity, and his combined industrial experience and dedication to his field of study are helping to bring academia and industry closer together in solving some of today's most critical sustainability challenges.
