Parent-Daughter Engineering Day for Grades 6-9th
Parent-Daughter Engineering Day is designed to spark the interest of girls in 6-9th and get them thinking like engineers. The girls and their parents engage in fun & challenging activities such as building a workable hydroplane and team-building exercises. This captivating opportunity inspires confidence and nurtures girls innate engineering abilities and interest. Girls are encouraged and supported by successful female engineers, WSU faculty, staff and students.
Activities for 2015 include Protect Your Noggin (Biomedical engineering focus) and the Hydraulic Puppy (Mechanical Engineering focus).
Parent/Daughter Engineering Day 2015 was a big success!
EAST's Parent/Daughter Engineering Day 2015 was a hit! 120 girls and parents had a great time figuring out how to build a hydraulic puppy and make it not only cute, but also do tricks. Getting a taste of biomedical engineering, teams devised ways to protect an egg buddy's head from concussions and worse (ewww) and learned a lot about why a girl might just want to become an engineer one day.
