Discovery at an Outdoor Wedding

The cocoon,
a tough brown walnut split,
and higher up a stubby stick of brown
bug. Sometime during the ceremony
it had borne itself,
Perhaps while bride and groom had kissed,
the child had turned his eyes away;
Or bored and picking at the bark,
he'd looked up and made the discovery,
It caused quite a stir. To think
that at this noisy union
there had been such a noble
and silent
departure.
