Join A New Era of Higher Ed/Industry Collaboration

A study for the Utah System of Higher Education found that, when it comes to some vital workplace skills, the state’s college graduates sometimes miss the mark. Weber State is seeking solutions to that problem, and it starts with passing you the mic.

The university has created the Northern Utah Employer Exchange (NUEX) to carefully listen to local industry leaders and discover ways to better prepare our students for the future (and current) workforce.

NUEX will bring local business and nonprofit leaders together with our faculty to discuss deep-rooted industry issues, work toward realistic solutions, and improve workforce development. When you participate in NUEX, you won’t be passively listening.  You will actively guide the conversation, and we will build creative strategies together. You’ll work with like-minded leaders to identify problems and create solutions that work toward the greatest impact on your organization.

Northern Utah industries have big business problems that higher ed can help to alleviate. That’s why it’s our mission to work toward a new standard for industry and higher education problem-solving.

Ultimately, NUEX is about the transformation of employees, businesses, and systems. It’s a step toward building a talent pipeline that meets the real demands of today’s industries. Our internal and external NUEX committees are meeting consistently to build the best, most innovative experience for you. Check out our other article, “Industry Leaders Are Helping Us Build NUEX” to learn more about the work being done behind the scenes.

NUEX will be at Weber State University’s  Shepherd Union Building on Oct. 2. Visit weber.edu/nuex to register before early bird pricing ends tomorrow. It’s time we come together, roll up our sleeves, and work toward a new era of industry/higher ed problem solving.
