Studying Physical Education Teaching and Coaching at Weber State

Weber State University’s physical education teaching and coaching degree trains athletic, energetic students to teach others physical activities to increase their fitness, teamwork skills and overall health in recreation programs or as physical education teachers.

Physical Education Teaching and Coaching Highlights

Physical education classes take advantage of Weber State’s extensive recreation and fitness facilities and services in the Wildcat Center for Health Education and Wellness.

If you already have your secondary physical education certificate, you can earn your dual certification to work in elementary schools as well.

Program Highlights

The PE Teaching emphasis is built for future educators. This track prepares you for K–12 teaching licensure through immersive coursework, hands-on learning, authentic teaching experiences, and extensive field placements in diverse educational settings.


The Athletic Coaching and Leadership emphasis is built for future sport coaches, managers, and leaders. This track develops the knowledge and skills to lead athletes and organizations through evidence-based coaching, athlete development, sport administration, leadership, and hands-on experiential learning across all levels of sport.

What You’ll LEARN at Weber

What You CAN DO After Weber

After completing a physical education teaching degree, graduates are qualified for careers open to physical education majors, along with teaching and/or coaching in public schools. Graduates with this degree can also go on to supervise and manage recreational programs, organize and direct intramural programs and teach in unique education environments, such as alternative schools, charter schools and Job Corps.
