General Studies at Weber State

An Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree in general studies provides you with a well-rounded base of knowledge and skills. This degree is a great foundation for continuing your studies and earning a bachelor’s degree.

General Studies Highlights

The general studies curriculum gives you the chance to explore a wide range of subjects and can help you discover an interest in a specific major.

An associate’s degree in general studies allows you to “lock in” your general education requirements for a wide range of Weber State’s bachelor’s degree programs. If you decide to transfer, it will fulfill general education requirements for bachelor’s degrees at other Utah public universities.

Many competitive bachelor’s degree programs award extra points toward admission to applicants who already have an associate’s degree.

This degree can be earned entirely online.

Seth Perkins

“While obtaining a general studies degree, you learn so much about yourself and the world around you from taking a variety of classes.”

What You’ll Learn at Weber

You will study a range of subjects in the humanities and creative arts, social sciences, and physical and life sciences, as well as build your familiarity and skills in computer and information literacy, math and writing.

What You Can Do After Weber

In addition to using your associate’s degree as a foundation for further studies, you will be qualified to pursue entry-level positions that require a general education foundation. Employers in many different fields look for candidates with the highly transferable knowledge and skills that the degree offers.

Staff Perspective

A General Studies degree is a great place to start for students that are unsure of which degree to pursue. It allows you to explore different areas of interest, study relevant topics, and develop versatile skills.
