Architectural Design Overview

Weber State’s architectural design teaches students to "Dream It, Design It, Build It." Our program engages students with hands-on labs, field trips, industry tours, guest speakers, virtual reality, 3D scanning, 3D printing and architectural model building.

Architectural Design Highlights

The architectural design program offers online, hybrid, flex, virtual and evening classes, allowing working students to fit school into their busy schedules.

Our students have competed in regional and international design and build competitions such as; the department of energy “Race to Zero” design competition, Solar Decathlon Local Build competition, Design Build International Association regional design competition, as well as won regional construction management Associated Schools of Construction design build, commercial and mixed-use competitions.

Beyond the Classroom

We design and build homes for Habitat for Humanity or in partnership with Ogden City and the Ogden Civic Action Network. We design and build schools/orphanages/training centers in developing countries like Mozambique, Ghana, Uganda, Thailand, Peru, Fiji and somewhere new every spring for alternative spring break. We also offer summer study abroad trips to learn about architecture and construction techniques.

Gain practical experience through job and internship opportunities offered to architectural design students by local companies. Most of our students are employed within their selected sub-discipline following their sophomore year.
