WHY WEBER STATE?

I grew up in Clinton, Utah and didn’t have too many aspirations for college. I was content working manual labor when I was younger. However, as I got older, I wanted to go to school and get an MBA. I had no idea what an MBA was at the time but it became a goal. Then in Spring 2005, I started my journey to graduate from WSU.

WHY MBA?

---

I choose Business Management with an emphasis in HR because I really like helping people and love to talk. HR seemed like the best way to utilize what I liked to do with a career.

INCREDIBLE ACCESS

I liked how intimate the setting was for class. At other Universities, you seem to  become lost in how many people are in classes and never get an opportunity to get to know your teachers and other students.

FACULTY IMPACT

Matt Mouritsen so inspirational in helping me get through the MBA program. He was professional, kind and understanding. Pat Wheeler in my undergraduate program as she inspired me to continually believe in myself and achieve my dreams in HR, I attribute a lot of my success to her.

ADVICE   

---

Don’t go to USU, Utah or BYU. If you want a great experience for a fraction of the cost of those other universities, attend Weber State. The teachers are great and the program is very realistic in accomplishing and not wasting your time. Don’t feel limited, shoot for the stars and take every moment to learn.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

I am currently at Navigator Business Solutions and am the Vice President of Human Resources (People and Culture). I have been in this role for the past four years. My career aspirations is to one day start my own Recruiting firm but I want to stay where I am for at least another 5-10 years to continually learn and grow.
