Learn firsthand about the complex interdependence between plastic/composite process, materials, tooling and part design.
The design portion of the major will provide the knowledge and skills required to fulfill career roles that focus on the product development process, which includes plastic part design.
Another phase delves into the differences between the many types of plastics, as well as the properties that differentiate plastics from other materials.
You'll have hands-on labs from the many plastic disciplines, including injection, thermoforming, blow molding, extrusion dies and high/low-tech composite molds.
Starting salaries vary depending on the region, workplace and skill level. Associate's graduates can
expect to receive starting salaries that range from $30-50,000 per year.
Bachelor's degree graduates typically receive offers starting at $50-75,000.
Bachelor's degree graduates are hired as field engineers, tooling engineers, production engineers and quality personnel for companies such as
AutoLiv, Boeing, Beckton Dickinson, Lockheed Martin, Parker Hannifin and Thiokol, as well as a variety of small companies.
Associate's degree graduates are qualified for a variety of positions in industry, particularly in machining, inspection and other manufacturing related jobs.
