In the many and varied roles of healthcare professionals, there is a shared commitment to service, compassion, and the support of others. Tyson Mason exemplified these values throughout his career as a firefighter and paramedic in the state of Utah.
Tyson began his career in public service as a young adult, completing firefighter training at Utah Valley University and subsequently earning his paramedic certification through Weber State University. As a caregiver and public safety professional, he was deeply trusted by colleagues and the communities he served. His dedication to helping others was a natural extension of his character and personal values. Tragically, on Sunday, January 22, 2017, Tyson passed away from injuries sustained in an automobile accident while returning home from a Life Flight shift.
With the support of Tyson’s family and friends, Weber State University is honored to carry forward his legacy of compassion through the Tyson Mason Memorial Scholarship Foundation and the Tyson Mason Memorial EMS Conference. May his commitment to service continue to inspire learning, professionalism, and selfless care for others.
