New WSU President, Students Embark on #LouderandProuder Tour

OGDEN, Utah -- In case you haven’t heard, Weber State University’s new president, Brad Mortensen, is encouraging his school’s students, alumni, faculty and staff to pump up the volume — so to speak.

Since taking office in January as WSU’s 13th president, Mortensen has been encouraging anyone associated with Weber State University to be “louder and prouder” about their alma mater and the successes associated with it.

Now Mortensen and some current Weber State students are embarking on a Louder and Prouder Tour. Beginning this week, they plan to make presentations at city council meetings in communities around the state.

“One of Weber State’s core values is community engagement, and this tour provides an opportunity to travel the state and visit people in their hometowns, and share the Weber State story, especially our commitment to student success,” Mortensen said.

Each tour stop will feature Mortensen delivering a brief update on the university, and students sharing their personal Weber State success stories. Mortensen hopes faculty, staff and alumni will join the tour when it visits their hometowns.

The tour’s first stop is the Morgan County City Council on Nov. 12, with tour stops scheduled through February. Additional locations and dates around the region and the state are expected to be announced soon.

Mortensen hopes that students, alumni and friends of the university will continue to share Weber State success stories with others and on social media, using the hashtag #LouderandProuder and #WeberState to help amplify the message.

“Our students, alumni and faculty are doing some amazing things. In some cases, they’ve overcome major challenges to achieve their success,” Mortensen said. “This tour is the latest way for us to be louder and prouder about all the ways Weber State continues to be great, Great, GREAT!”
