Student Accomplishments

  • Shannon Tortolano & Amanda Kwok conducted undergraduate research co-sponsored by the Counseling and Psychological Services Center and the Department of Psychology. Their paper, “Nutrition and mental health in the college age population,” was presented at the WSU Undergraduate Research Symposium and at the Rocky Mountain Psychological Association annual conference.
  • The Weber State Men’s Soccer Team won the Club Sports National Championship on November 22, 2009.
  • The Baseball Club won the Northern Pacific Region Championship and qualified for the NCBA World Series.
  • The Bowling Club had 2 Academic All-Americans, and Rick Lilly won a gold medal in the World Transplant Games for Team USA.
  • The Rodeo Club Women’s Team won Regionals and are ranked 3rd in the nation.
  • The following four men on the Wrestling Team qualified for nationals: Ben Harding, Kirk Waldron, William Moulding, Elliott Mart.
  • A group of students in the engineering program, Tee Ogunnaike, Tyson Tungmala and Derek Larkin, installed a remote operated door opener on Building Four building with input and support from Services for Students with Disabilities.
  • Five tutors, Derek Stout, Bradley Mack, Allison Scheel, Andrea Kunzler and Kyle Rollins, gave presentations at the regional peer tutoring conference in Denver.
  • Two writing tutors, Brian Christensen and Andrea Kunzler, were accepted to present at WSU’s National Undergraduate Literature Conference. An additional writing tutor, Buck Kolz was chosen as a moderator.
  • Misty Bell received the Utah Campus Compact Award for Civically Engaged Student.
  • Jayson Stokes and Belia Alvarado were selected as participants in the NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program for 2010-11.
