Child Development Minor

Our minor in child development offers knowledge in issues regarding children and their families, which are essential to the professional and personal development of all individuals contributing to society.

What You’ll Learn

You will learn about the psychological, intellectual, social, and emotional development of children, from birth to adolescence, and gain practical experience working with young children.

If you are majoring in another field with a child and family concentration, (i.e. psychology, social work, sociology, etc.), the Child Development program adds depth to your course of study and reinforces your understanding of complex developmental processes.

Grade/Hour Requirements

You must maintain an overall GPA of 2.00 or "C" in courses used toward the minor. A minimum of 18 credit hours is required. At least six credits must be upper-division (courses numbered 3000 and above).

Locations

Family Studies courses are offered at Weber State University Ogden and in Davis County (Davis High School and Weber State Davis). Davis County courses are held in the evening. Some classes will be offered in a hybrid format (a combination of traditional face-to-face instruction and online learning).
