Tuition Waivers

Each academic year, the Dumke College of Health Professions and the Department of Emergency Healthcare may be afforded various tuition waivers.  A tuition waiver is not a cash scholarship, rather, it is a suspension of tuition and cannot be used for other educational expenses.  Like scholarships, tuition waivers often require certain criteria be met by the applicant.

Typically, a tuition waiver cannot exceed the total cost of tuition for any given semester, and often has limitations when combined with other sources of financial aid.  Additionally, tuition waivers cannot be used for independent study courses, distance learning or self-support courses, credit/non-credit courses, or courses that are audited.

In most cases, a tuition waiver must be assigned to their recipient in the Spring, prior to the Fall semester for which it is applied. Therefore, students wishing to be considered for tuition waivers must submit their applications by March 31st each year. For those receiving a waiver, the funds will be subtracted from your tuition amount due for the Fall semester of the following academic year. For instance, those wanting waivers for the Fall of 2023, should apply by March 31, 2023.

Criteria: Varies depending on the waiver.  Some waivers can only apply to in-state tuition, some are academic based, while others are based on financial need.

Designation: Recipients will be selected by the chair of the Department of Emergency Healthcare in consultation with department faculty and the Dean's office.

Uses: Tuition only
