EPA Accountant Job Opportunity for Recent Graduates

The U.S. EPA Region 9 will soon be accepting applications online at www.USAJOBS.gov for an Accountant in the Environmental Management Division, Accounting Office, San Francisco, CA. This position is open to recent college graduates. Applicants will be hired at the GS-7 or GS-9 entry grade level. When entering a Federal job at a grade level lower than the highest promotion potential, you may be promoted to more complex duties and work more independently as your career progresses.

At the entry level, you will assist in development of financial management policies, procedures and systems. Conduct financial reviews to assure adequate internal controls and systems are in place to prevent fraud, waste and abuse. Reconcile source documentation to the accounting and financial systems and reports. Compile cost documentation to provide activity and cost evidences to support the agency in recovering cost from potentially responsible parties who may have released or threatened to release hazardous substances into the environment. Give technical advice and assistance on accounting transactions, and participate in formal/information conferences and planning sessions. Provide interpretations of accounting reports, statements, and data which point out trends, identify deviations from standards and/or plans, and project data into the future. Assist in the preparation of written review reports; and create or update data in spreadsheets, organizational software, and/or small-scale database programs, and perform other
duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, Full-Time

Who May Apply: Any U.S. Citizen who has graduated within the previous 2 years with an associate, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificates from a qualifying educational institution. Veterans who were precluded from applying due to their military service obligation begin their 2 years eligibility period upon release or discharge from active duty. Eligibility for a Veteran, in this case, cannot exceed 6 years from the date which the Veteran completed his/her degree.

Qualifications: You must meet one of the following Basic Qualification Requirements:
A) Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. The term accounting means accounting and/or auditing. Note: You must provide transcripts (official or unofficial) to support your education claim; or
B) Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant's background must also include one of the following:

1. Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law;
2. A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or
3. Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph (A) above, provided that:

i) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting,
auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining;
ii) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined
that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and
underlying fields that equal in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that
which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study
described in paragraph A; and
iii) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in
accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified
requirements.

Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Equipment Mechanic

Hill AFB will be using Direct Hire Authority (DHA) to immediately fill at least seven (7) Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Equipment Mechanic civilian jobs. (Civilian means that there is no military commitment.) The demand for HVAC Equipment Mechanics is continual at around 10-12 new hires per year.

WHO MAY APPLY:

  • Resumes will only be accepted from candidates with some experience, training, and/or certification in HVAC repair.
  • Inexperienced candidates are encouraged to attend a technical college to obtain skills training if they wish to enter this occupation.
