LGBTQ+ History Tour: New York and Stonewall Inn

Program Details

New York has the highest population of LGBTQ people of any state. New York City is a fundamental location in history of the LGBTQ community and the LGBTQ civil rights movement. There isn't another location in the United States in which one can find such a rich intersection of LGBTQ history, issues, and community then in New York City and specifically Greenwich Village. This trip will provide students a tangible, unique and valuable experience of connecting LGBTQ history with topics of LGBTQ issues, struggles, and contemporary topics. 

Requirements:

  • Any interested student wishing to participate in this trip is welcome. All student participants will be required to complete all components of the trip. Any students with disabilities or need of accommodations should contact the program director before applying for the trip to discuss the specifics of the trip beforehand. This trip should not include any physical exertion outside of an average day on campus except for the potential of walking tours.

Must be paid in full by July 8, 2020

Deposit: $500 dollars will need to be paid when you hand in your application. All payments must be made through the Hurst Center, NOT at the main cashier's office. Payment can be made in person, or over the phone at (801) 626-6600. The Hurst Center is located on the south side of campus next to the Alumni Center.

Academic Courses

Students who participate in this study abroad program will be able to register for up to three (3) semester credits through Weber State University in

WGS 2920

Program Directors

Jayson Stokes, M.Ed. Coordinator of the LGBT Resource Center. I will be responsible for developing the curriculum, facilitating the pre-trip and post-trip lectures, guiding the program on the trip and grading the students on their completion of the trip and all required assignments. I am a subject matter expert on LGBTQ topics and issues.

Trip Cancellations

If Weber State cancels a trip for any reason, all participants will be refunded 100% of funds paid to the school. If a participant withdraws from the program for any reason, they are subject to the refund policy found on the first page of the application.  Deposits are always non-refundable, unless the program is canceled by Weber State.  No refunds will be issued 30 days prior to program start date.
