Mark O. Bigler, LCSW, PhD

Mark O. Bigler, LCSW, PhD is a Professor and chair of the Department of Social Work and Gerontology. He is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and sex therapist and has worked with couples in private practice for several years. In addition, he has devoted a good share of his professional life to HIV/AIDS prevention and clinical services in Utah and in New York City in both substance abuse treatment and AIDS services settings. His professional and research interest include: human sexuality, sexual functioning and sex therapy, sexual aggression, gender issues, HIV/AIDS, harm reduction, substance use/abuse, and technology in higher education.

Dr. Bigler teaches courses across the Social Work curriculum. His teaching assignments for the current academic year include:

SW 1010 - Introduction to Generalist Social Work Practice (face-to-face, hybrid, and online)
SW 3100 - Human Behavior and the Social Environment II
SW 3900 - Social Work Practice Methods and Ethics 
SW 4150 - Issues in Drug Use and Substance Abuse (team taught by members of the Social Work Program faculty)
