Welcome back Wildcats! We're very excited about this amazing semester we have planned. One of our events coming up that we want to make sure you all know of is our first Sales Center Golf Tournament at Top Golf on the 27th of September! Over the summer I was given a couple of books to read and some podcast to listen to that really helped expand my understanding of sales, business, and self-improvement. I hope that we are all continuing to seek to learn more outside of our classes. Many (and some would say every) successful millionaires read multiple books a year, for example, Bill Gates reads about 50 books a year or in other words a book/week.

If you are like me and you think "I'd love to read more but I'm such a slow reader or I get distracted", or my favorite excuse "I don't have time" than consider these options/answers. If you have a hard time reading then download audiobooks. When I started doing this I started to read 2 books a month. This can also help if you are easily distracted. A good way to overcome that is by just listening to them while you drive. If you feel you don't have enough time then I would consider doing some research on how much time these successful entrepreneurs have to themselves and the still find time to read multiple books. You make time for things that are important in your life. Never excuse yourself from continuous education!

My name is Kathleen "Paige" Young, and I am an Instructor and Professional Sales Department Advisor. Just about 5 years ago, I was in your shoes taking 1401, and exploring the Professional Sales Degree. Believe it or not, during my first year of Professional Sales Courses, my biggest fear was getting up in front of people and talking or presenting. I graduated with a BS in Professional Sales in 2016, where I ventured off and worked in Hotel and Hospitality Sales as a Sales Manager for a Hilton hotel. I was able to combine my course experience with real-world experience in cold calling, prospecting, soliciting, needs assessment, B2B presenting, contract negotiation, and closing deals, along with executing an annual business plan, and forecasting. In a nutshell, I can say that with hard work and applying myself, I have mastered my fears and my dreams continue to come true because of my degree in Professional Sales.
