Simultaneous Membership Program

For students who are already in either the Army National Guard or Army Reserve, or who want to serve in the Guard or Reserves, the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) exists for you. By being in the SMP you will be gaining valuable experience and earning extra income. When you go to your drill you will be paid at the rate of a Sergeant E-5 (or higher based on your enlisted rank). You'll serve as an officer trainee in a Guard or Reserve unit and perform duties commensurate with the grade of second lieutenant. In addition to drill pay you will be eligible to receive your G.I. Bill, G.I. Bill Kicker, and ROTC stipend. While you are a SMP Cadet you are considered Non-Deployable.

Eligibility Requirements:

• 30 credit hours
• 2.5 GPA (For GRFD Scholarship)
• Medically and Morally qualified
• Pass APFT on campus
• Full time student
• Enlisted or eligible to enlist in NG/Reserves
• Recommended by PMS
• Be a US Citizen, or Permanent Resident
• Complete Background Check

 

GRFD Scholarship
The Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty Scholarship Program (also known as the GRFD) is designed to attract cadets who are interested in obtaining a commission in the United States Army Reserves or Utah Army National Guard (also known as the USAR / UTARNG) by allowing them to receive an early guarantee for such an assignment. Scholarship amounts are up to $10,000 per year. Recipients of this scholarship must also agree to serve in the Army Reserve or the Utah Army National Guard after commissioning.
