Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy

Weber State is among the few universities to offer a bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy, preparing students to care
for patients and save lives as Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT).

 

 

 

 

What You’ll Learn

Your courses will cover:

  • Diseases of the heart and lungs
  • Equipment used in respiratory therapy
  • Drugs as therapeutic agents
  • Administration of medical gases
  • Artificial ventilation techniques
  • Diagnostic procedures
  • Life support
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

You’ll also learn to treat patients for asthma, bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and pneumonia.

 

What You Can Do with Your Degree

Weber State’s Respiratory Therapy program prepares you to become a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) and a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).

Once certified, graduates find careers in:

  • Newborn intensive care
  • Adult critical care
  • Emergency rooms
  • Air and ground transport
  • Sleep medicine

Upon graduation, you can transition into Weber State’s Master of Science in Respiratory Therapy or enter graduate studies in another medical field.

If you already have your associate’s degree in respiratory therapy and RRT credential, you may be able to sign up for our AS to MSRT program to earn your graduate degree within three years.
