Thank you so much for your interest in Weber State University and the Theatre Program. We are happy to invite you to participate in our 2023 Virtual Scholarship Auditions and Interviews. We look forward to seeing your work and sharing with you details about our program, faculty, students, and our cutting-edge facilities and performance spaces. We look forward to learning more about you.
The Weber State University Theatre Program will hold virtual auditions/interviews for scholarships that will be due by Sunday, February 19th at 11:59 pm. You can submit your audition/interview materials here! Details regarding your audition/interview can be found below based on your area of interest.
Students who participated in the Utah Theatre Association Screening Auditions/Interviews need not submit videos/materials on our website, as our faculty will view all of the UTA Screenings.
Be sure to complete your application for Admission and Scholarships as soon as possible in order to receive Priority Status for Scholarships and Financial Aid! https://www.weber.edu/financialaid
Below are the suggested best practices for your audition or interview. If you have any questions regarding the necessary materials or the audition process in general please feel free to reach out to Andrew Barratt Lewis at andrewlewis@weber.edu.
Musical Theatre
Please prepare to upload your current resume, headshot, and a video including either:
- Two contrasting songs (one-minute maximum length each) AND one contemporary monologue (one-minute maximum length).
OR
- One song (one-minute maximum length), One contemporary monologue (one-minute maximum length), and one dance piece (one-minute maximum length).
Acting/Directing
Please prepare to upload your current resume, headshot, and a video including:
- Two contrasting monologues (one-minute maximum length each).
Design/Technical/Management
Please prepare to upload a current resume, photo, and a video including:
- A brief introduction of yourself
- A PowerPoint or Google Slides portfolio narrated by you not to exceed 3 minutes. (Here are YouTube tutorials for turning PowerPoint and Google Slides, for Google Slides you use screencastify.com which is free, into videos with narration.)
Theatre Teaching
Please prepare to upload a current resume, photo, and a video including:
- A brief introduction of yourself
- A PowerPoint or Google Slides portfolio narrated by you not to exceed 3 minutes. Please use your time to discuss a specific teaching experience in the past (a volunteer or informal experience is fine) and avoid a general discussion of why you want to teach. (Here are YouTube tutorials for turning PowerPoint and Google Slides, for Google Slides you use screencastify.com which is free, into videos with narration.)
Playwriting/Dramaturgy/Scholars
Please prepare to upload a current resume, photo, writing sample (not to exceed 10 pages), and a video including:
- A brief introduction of yourself
- A PowerPoint or Google Slides portfolio narrated by you not to exceed 3 minutes. (Here are YouTube tutorials for turning PowerPoint and Google Slides, for Google Slides you use screencastify.com which is free, into videos with narration.)
