Entrance/Scholarship Auditions

BRASS AND WOODWINDS

Brass and Woodwind auditions for the 2019-20 school year will be held January 19, 2019.  Online sign-ups for live auditions are available here.  If you have questions about scheduling, please contact the Performing Arts Office at 801-626-6437 or pcoan@weber.edu.

Prepare two contrasting solos or excerpts for a total of three to four minutes. The solos or excerpts should demonstrate technique and expression. They may be performed with or without accompaniment. Students will be asked to play their 12 major scales and sight-read a brief excerpt.

New Music majors and minors need to take a Theory Placement Test to identify the appropriate Music Theory course for registration. The Theory Placement Test will be given at the scholarship auditions as well as the Friday before the start of the semester in Room 322.

While live auditions are preferred, we understand that this is not always possible, particularly for out-of-state and international students.  For those students unable to audition in person, you can send in an online audition here.  Please note that the requirements for the audition remain the same (with the exception of sight reading).  Also, to be considered for a scholarship, your audition must be submitted by January 19, 2019.
