What scholarships are available for WSU Early College students?

There are two scholarship options available for NUAMES High School Early College students: a WSU Early College Scholarship for NUAMES High School and a NUAMES High School Early College scholarship

WSU Early College Scholarship for NUAMES High School

WSU will provide qualified NUAMES High School Early College students a $1,000/semester tuition scholarship.

  • Must be a high school junior or a senior with an index score of 106 or higher and maintain a cumulative WSU & High School GPA of at least 3.25. Note: Sophomores are not eligible for the scholarship.

  • The scholarship is only available for the Fall and Spring semesters. The scholarship is contingent upon funding and may be reviewed each semester.

  • Students must accept the WSU scholarship each academic year to receive the scholarship.

  • The scholarship can be used toward day, evening, and online WSU courses. Note: Scholarship does not cover Independent Study courses. 

  • Students must be residents of the United States and have established Utah residency for tuition purposes.

NUAMES High School Early College Scholarship

NUAMES High School will provide qualified Early College students a scholarship that will cover up to $1,250/semester in tuition and required student fees.

  • Must be a high school junior or a senior with an index score of 106 or higher and maintain a cumulative WSU and High School GPA of at least 3.25. Note: Sophomores are not eligible for the scholarship.

  • The scholarship is only available for the Fall and Spring semesters. The scholarship is contingent upon funding and may be reviewed each semester.

  • Students must be enrolled on a full time basis for one school year at NUAMES High School prior to enrolling in the Early College program and in order to be considered for the NUAMES High School Early College Scholarship. 

  • Student's cannot have any F's or U's on their NUAMES High School transcripts that have not been made up.

  • Students will be required to pay back NUAMES High School for any WSU course in which a grade of D+, D, D-, E, W, UW, NC, or AU (audit) was earned.

  • Students starting the Early College program during the Fall semester needs to be accepted and registered for Early College courses before May 1st in order to qualify for the scholarship.

Additional Information

Students are responsible to pay for all tuition and required student fees (if not scholarship eligible). Students are always responsible to pay for all course, lab, and exam fees associated with their WSU courses by the tuition deadline each semester. All unpaid tuition and fees will be subject to late/collection fees, interest, and a hold preventing further registration adjustments or the printing of transcripts and are the students responsibility to pay.

Textbooks and other supplies are also each student's responsibility to purchase.


Accepting the WSU Early College Scholarship for NUAMES High School

You will need to accept the WSU Early College Scholarship once it has been awarded (watch for an email from the WSU Scholarship Office). This email will be sent to your WSU email account and can be accessed through the eWeber Student portal.

  • Log into your eWeber portal and search for "Award Information"

  • Click on “Accept/Review Award Offer by Aid Year”
  • Select the appropraite Aid Year (ex: Award Year 2018-2019)
  • Click on the "Accept Award Offer" tab
  • Click on the drop-down box, select ACCEPT, to accept your award
  • Click “Submit”

Can I use the New Century Scholarship to pay for Early College courses?

No. The New Century Scholarship is not awarded until after you have graduated from high school, at which point you would no longer be considered an Early College student.

Can out-of-state students be awarded the Early College scholarships?

No. Early College Scholarships can only be awarded to students who qualify for Utah residency for tuition purposes. Contact WSU's Admissions Office with questions about residency. 


After graduation from high school you may qualify for:

New Century Scholarship

Students qualify to apply for this scholarship by completing all of the courses for their associate's degree by the time they graduate high school. They must apply for the scholarship by February 1 of their senior year and submit all verification documentation by the September 1 deadline. The funding for this scholarship fluctuates each year and there are only a certain number of recipients annually. Applications and detailed information are available at newcenturyscholarship.org.

Regents' Scholarship

The Regents' scholarship encourages Utah high school students to prepare for college academically and financially by taking a rigorous course of study and saving for college. Applications and detailed information are available at regentsscholarship.org.
