Get a dedicated Peer Mentor who has been a WSU student for at least one year to support, guide and encourage you throughout the year.

Connect to the university and do better in college. You will gain skills and have support to overcome obstacles, achieve your goals and make the most of your college experience.

Be a Peer Mentor!

The Peer Mentor program provides any student an opportunity to learn and to build meaningful relationships that support their academic success.

Mentoring your peers can help you develop interpersonal and leadership skills. At the Center for Multicultural Excellence, you will develop self-awareness and multicultural competence.

The goal of the CME Peer Mentor Program is to support students as they navigate campus resources and procedures, connect to peers and WSU and prepare to graduate successfully.

Navigate

  • Attend a Scholarships Workshop/Orientation to learn about opportunities for financial aid
  • Set up appointments with CME Advisors for academic, financial, and personal support
  • Get connected to other campus resources to ensure your success

Connect

  • Have one-on-one sessions with your Peer Mentor on a regular basis
  • Build meaningful connections with peers in the program in your assigned small group of mentees
  • Enjoy social events with mentees, mentors and other program participants in the Center for Multicultural Excellence
  • Access resources and attend campus events with peers in the program

Graduate

  • Keep track of your academic progress throughout the year with CME Advisors
  • Set and achieve academic and career goals with guidance and support
  • Complete volunteer/community service hours and other resume-building activities
  • Network with faculty and staff
  • Develop leadership and communication skills through program trainings, workshops and events
