Those who are over the age of 18 and live in an EPA non-attainment area in Utah (see zip code look-up below), can enter a lottery for a chance to purchase an electric mower at a discounted price. Those who are selected and who exchange an operable gas-powered mower are eligible to purchase an electric mower for $100 through the program. Fee waivers will be available through the program for those in need and unable to afford the $100.

Requirements for the Cut Pollution - Mow Electric Program:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.

  • Must have an operable gas mower to exchange. The mower must be drained of all oil and gas. Please use up all of the gas and then drain the oil and recycle it at a facility near you. Click here to find an oil recycling facility.

  • In addition, participants will pay $100 (plus tax and a 3% credit card processing fee) for the electric mower, unless you qualify for a fee waiver. To qualify for a waiver of the $100 fee, applicants must demonstrate financial need by providing proof of participation in an assistance program, such as WIC, SNAP, free school lunch, etc. A card or document demonstrating participation in the assistance program will be required to be shown upon arrival at the mower pick-up station.

  • Only 1 electric mower is allowable per household.

  • Program participants must live in EPA air quality non-attainment area.
