Special Payment Option for Students Affected by Covid-19

We are mindful of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and continue to monitor the situation closely.  We know that many of you may be facing financial challenges during this time and we want to help.

If you are experiencing difficulties paying your current Spring Semester tuition charges that may be preventing you from registering for Summer or Fall Semester classes, please reach out to the Payment Plan office by email at webpay@weber.edu or at (801)626-8006.  We have new flexible, interest free plans that can defer payment and provide solutions to help you continue your studies here at Weber during these challenging times.

After consultation with deans, faculty senate leadership and administrators, Weber State University has decided to hold our summer session as scheduled (May 4-Aug. 7). We plan to offer all our courses online or in a virtual format.

While we recognize that many of you long for a return to in-person classroom instruction, it is impossible to know how soon that might occur. With summer registration opening for students on Monday, March 30, it was imperative that we make this decision now in order to give students ample time to make decisions related to summer semester. https://www.weber.edu/coronavirus

As of Wednesday, March 18, the university has moved to online/remote instruction through the end of the 2020 spring semester.

Following the new federal guidelines issued March 16 regarding the prevention of the spread of COVID-19, Weber State University is implementing the following measures effective immediately.

  • Stewart Library, Shepherd Union Building and Stromberg Complex are closed. Employees with offices in these buildings will continue to have access to these facilities.
  • All remaining computer labs and testing centers are closed.
  • WSU Davis in Layton, Center for Continuing Education in Clearfield, Farmington Station, Morgan, Roy, the West Center and Wildcat Stores at all locations are closed.

The LEAP office will be closed during the social distancing practice due to the COVID-19.

We are working remotely to practice social distancing due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 (Corona Virus).

Please contact Kaori via email at kaorigale@weber.edu or phone at 801-626-7457 for assistance.  We will respond to you in a timely manner.

LEAP/ESL Students,

Please contact your instructors via email if you have any questions about your assignments or tests.  You can also contact Kaori at kaorigale@weber.edu if you have any other questions (the Summer or/and Fall schedule, registration, or general questions).

Mission Statement

The Weber State University LEAP Department (Learning English for Academic Purposes) provides intensive English language courses for students in the process of acquiring English as a second language for academic use. It is the mission of the Department to prepare these students to function effectively in mainstream academic classes where English is the language of instruction. In doing so, we also seek to familiarize students with American culture and the academic atmosphere of studying in an American university.

You can complete the LEAP Program in one to three semesters.
