Our economics teaching minor provides knowledge and information that will make you a better-informed consumer and participant in the world economy. The minor also provides a basis for a better understanding and ability to explain world events.

Specifically, you'll gain skills and knowledge in: 

  • Basic economic institutions and principles of economics
  • Principles of microeconomics and macroeconomics
  • History of the American economy
  • The U.S. financial system

What You Can Do

This program prepares you to teach economics at the secondary-school level.

You will also be prepared for jobs that call for:

  • Data analysis
  • Pricing
  • Purchasing
  • Report writing

You will have the opportunity to publish your research and present at conferences.

You must satisfy the Teacher Education admission and licensure requirements to take this minor, and get the approval of the economics department chair.
