ELIZABETH
masters of business administration '20 (outstanding grad)
“It took 30 years, but in 2017, I returned to get my master's degree in business administration. Weber State University was the most convenient schedule for me.”
WHY WEBER STATE?
From kindergarten, I never liked school. Still, I realized from an early age, to succeed in my professional life, I needed to do well in school. In 1987, when I graduated with my bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, I swore I would never go back to school. It took 30 years, but in 2017, I returned to get my master's degree in business administration. I waited until my children were grown and out of the house in order to ensure I didn't take time from them. Weber State University was the most convenient schedule for me.
WHY MBA?
As a supervisor, I believed business administration would help me with my career.
INCREDIBLE ACCESS
I appreciated ready access to my classes via the Davis campus
FACULTY IMPACT
Jennifer Anderson was my first teacher and I always remembered her as she got me started. Matt Mouritsen, was the funniest (apologies to the others who were also funny). Doris Geide-Stevenson and Shane Schvaneveldt were the hardest, but they also agreed to provide references for me if I needed them.
ADVICE
Fair warning: I only took one class at a time and I still averaged about 20 hours per week on each class.
WHERE ARE YOU NOW?
I am a first line supervisor and I am happy with this position. I like helping people and this allows me to do that.
