Emerging Hispanic-Serving Institution Mission

In our strategic plan, Weber State Amplified, a 5-year plan for growth, WSU committed to becoming an Emerging Hispanic-Serving Institution by growing our percent of students who identify as Hispanic or Latino descent to 15% by fall 2025.

Under the direction of the president and vice president of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, in collaboration with other campus stakeholders, Yudi Lewis, the executive director of HSI Initiatives, is helping WSU achieve and sustain eHSI status through active strategic planning participation and building institutional capacity to enhance long-term growth.

Lewis acts as the liaison and develop effective strategies, relationships and communications with faculty, staff, students, community groups, educational entities and funding agencies to achieve the eHSI goal. She is responsible for advancing, supporting, and evaluating equity, diversity, and inclusion programs related to eHSI activities across the campus to ensure equity and promote a culture of inclusiveness.
