Outside of journalism, he was the founding executive director of the Tony Hawk Foundation and a staff writer on the HBO television series John From Cincinnati.

PRE-SHOW SHORT FILM - ELEMENTAL
Sponsored by Smith Optics

Elemental is an invigorating film by Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, world renowned mountain biker and an extreme skiier.  This film explores his relationships with and how the four elements of the natural world; air, fire, water and earth have shaped his existance and the rider he is today. " I feel like mountain biking and skiing really go hand in hand for me, and I think it’s something that a lot of folks can relate to. I mean look at how many skiers or snowboarders are out ripping bikes in summertime. That’s been my life too. There are so many similarities between the two: whether it’s the way you read terrain, your stance or body position, the way you carve a turn. I always loved those parallels."

FEATURE FILM - "MOUNTAIN"
Sponsored by Mary Elizabeth Dee Shaw Gallery, WSU

A unique cinematic and musical collaboration between the Australian Chamber Orchestra and BAFTA-nominated director Jennifer Peedom, MOUNTAIN is a dazzling exploration of our obsession with mountains. Only three centuries ago, climbing a mountain would have been considered close to lunacy. The idea scarcely existed that wild landscapes might hold any sort of attraction. Peaks were places of peril, not beauty. Why, then, are we now drawn to mountains in our millions? MOUNTAIN shows us the spellbinding force of high places – and their ongoing power to shape our lives and our dreams.
