Work will be organized so that overtime is avoided except when absolutely necessary. Overtime must be approved by the immediate supervisor and payment must be approved by the supervisor and next-level approver. Overtime represents time worked by a non-exempt staff employee in excess of forty hours in a workweek. Supervisors may choose to use paid overtime or compensatory time. Overtime is paid at one and one-half times the regular hourly wage and compensatory time is accumulated at one and one-half times the hours worked. Overtime worked above 90 hours necessitates payment.
