Engineering Technology

Engineering Technology (ET) students were busy this year working on various projects across multiple disciplines.  The projects included; a Kid Excavator that will sit in the Children's School playground on WSU campus, a portable wok for a food truck called Wok and Roll, a penny press that presses out souvenir  pennies with a Wildcat imprint, a lightweight jack that uses no hydraulics and allows you to move a car around sideways on a paved surface, a very effective snow plow, and Modzilla, a snowmobile deck for a pickup.

This proves, once again, that no project is too complicated, greasy, childish, useful, or fun for our students in ET to tackle.

Projects that will be completing in fall of 2013 include a log splitter and a student built 3D printer.  Some interesting projects will also begin fall of 2013, including a portable canyon wind turbine, an interal feeding system for hospitals, an aquaponics project with a Japanese firm, and a project involving the new Miller welding robot.

Dutch Oven Cook Off:

The American Welding Society (AWS) and Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) student chapters held a Dutch oven lunch on a beautiful spring afternoon. Students, faculty, and their families prepared and enjoyed a variety of food including chicken, baked beans, and desserts.  AWS and SME chapters hold activities every month, including resume building workshops and industry guest speakers.  Student clubs are a great way to network with other Engineering Technology students.  For future events, look for fliers in the Engineering Technology hallways.
