Welcome to Summer

This communication was sent  to students May 4, 2020.

Dear Weber State Students:

Today is the first day of summer semester, can you believe it?  It is not too late, however, to register for summer classes. There are still courses available, and you can register through your eWeber Portal. While many of you are taking summer courses, some of you are taking the summer off to work, spend time with family, or to wait out these trying times. Regardless, I want you to know that the staff and faculty at Weber State are still here for you!

While our offices may be closed for in-person visits, they are still open to serve you. We anticipate being able to open offices slowly throughout the summer, so be sure you are checking your email and our Keeping Connected website regularly throughout the summer. I would also encourage you to carefully read the email that was sent to you on Friday, May 1, outlining the university’s recovery framework.

Laptops / Mobile Hotspots

Laptop & Mobile Hotspot checkouts for summer semester are still available. To maintain social distancing, an appointment will be required to pick up equipment. Time slots are limited, but you can reserve your appointment online.

Reservations must be made at least three hours in advance of the pickup to give staff time to prepare. After making your appointment, you will receive pickup instructions with your appointment confirmation.

This is not a walk-up service--you must arrive in a vehicle and should not exit the vehicle when arriving at the Stewart Library loading dock for pickup. Staff will verify your identity verbally from a safe distance before wheeling the equipment to your vehicle. Staff will maintain hygiene and social distancing best-practices throughout the interaction.

Please exit campus as soon as the transaction is complete.

Tutoring

Ogden and Davis Learning Centers are available to help you succeed in your classes. For free online tutoring or/and academic coaching, please visit weber.edu/tutoring.

Summer Testing

Testing Services will be offering online proctored course work exams this summer. We strongly recommend that you schedule a practice appointment in May to connect with a proctor and verify your equipment is working properly. This will help the proctoring process go smoother when you take your first academic test. Find directions on how to schedule a practice test under "schedule tests" on the Testing Services Student Online Testing page.

Survey

We want to learn how you are feeling, what technology you still need to be successful in your studies, and get your feedback for our university administrators. Please take a moment to fill out our latest survey. We are not tracking respondents and will only report data in aggregate. Please complete the survey by Wednesday, May 6.

Virtual Town Hall

On Thursday, May 7, at 1 p.m., we will host a town hall to check in with students and answer your questions. We will have updates about summer and fall registration and the credit/no credit process. We also will share some of the survey feedback during the town hall. Please join us at the Zoom event. ASL interpretation will be provided. We ask that you submit questions ahead of time at covid19@weber.edu.

Best wishes to you as we begin summer semester!
