Health Care Executive to Receive Honorary DegreeOGDEN, Utah – Health care executive and business owner Joné Law Koford will receive an honorary doctorate of humanities Dec. 13 during Weber State University’s 142nd commencement ceremony.
Koford, who will serve as commencement speaker, is the owner and president of Ennovative Performance Group, a health care advisory and resource company. She is also the chair of WSU’s National Advisory Council and has served on the council for nearly two decades.
Koford graduated magna cum laude from Weber State College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She earned her Master of Science degree in health administration from the University of Colorado, where she graduated with distinction.
“Joné Koford has a level of experience and perspective in today's challenging health care environment that is essentially unmatched,” said Charles A. Wight, WSU president. “Her expertise and her many years of service to the university make her a truly distinguished alumna."
Prior to owning a business, Koford served in several roles at LifePoint Hospitals, which has more than 50 campuses in 18 states and revenue exceeding $3 billion.
Her most recent position at that company was president of strategic growth and development. As the person in charge of strategic acquisitions and in-market development, she facilitated the formation of a joint venture between LifePoint and the Duke University Health System. The venture’s goal is to create a network of hospitals, physicians and other health care providers in North Carolina and the surrounding area.
Koford retired in March after more than a decade with LifePoint.
Koford’s career includes time as CEO of two hospitals along the Wasatch Front. She also served as regional vice president of both Columbia/HCA and HealthTrust, and vice president of sales and physician services for Altius Health Plans.
Koford has two daughters, Kelsey and McKenna, who both attend universities in Utah and plan careers in health care.
WSU’s 142nd commencement will begin at the Dee Events Center Friday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m.
