Ritchey Lecture to Commemorate Darwin’s 200th Birthday
Dr. Ian Tattersall will present the lecture “Becoming Human,” Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. in Lind Lecture Hall Room 125-126 on the Ogden campus. Tattersall’s lecture will commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin and the 150th anniversary of his monumental publication “On the Origin of Species.” The event, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the office of the Provost, and the College of Science Ritchey Lecture Series.Tattersall is a curator of anthropology at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. He has made numerous contributions to the study of human evolution. Recognized as a leading authority on lemurs, Tattersall has led many scientific expeditions in Madagascar. His books include “The Monkey in the Mirror” and “Becoming Human: Evolution and Human Uniqueness.”
