Mayor Recognizes WSU Professor's Commitment to the Arts

Don Keipp, professor of performing arts at Weber State University, has been selected to receive a Mayor’s Award in the Arts for 2009.

Keipp will be formally recognized at an awards ceremony at 8 p.m. on Oct. 21 in the Union Station Grand Lobby. In addition to being honored, Keipp also will perform at the event. In announcing the selection, the Ogden City Arts council wrote: “The arts community of Ogden is truly elevated by the caliber of work that is created daily at Weber State. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to its Professors and Administrators in the Arts Departments.”

Keipp, who joined the faculty at WSU in 1985, is a percussionist who regularly performs in a variety of musical groups across the Wasatch Front, and directs the WSU Jazz Ensemble.
