WSU to Host Series of Presidential Debate Discussions
OGDEN, Utah – As the 2008 presidential campaign enters the home stretch, Weber State University's American Democracy Project will host two presidential debate watches.
Members of the community are invited to gather on campus to watch the first presidential and vice presidential live debates and then take part in a discussion afterwards.
"Selecting a president is an important process that only occurs once every four years," said Leah Murray, assistant professor of political science at WSU. "In sponsoring these debate discussions, we wanted to bring the community together so they could listen to the candidates and then discuss the merits of each with other citizens."
Murray hopes that the sessions will lead to greater interest and involvement in the political process.
The debate watch schedule:
Sept. 26 – 7 p.m. – First presidential debate – Shepherd Union Wildcat Theater
Oct. 2 – 7 p.m. – Vice-presidential debate – Shepherd Union Wildcat Theater
