Goddard School To Host Spanish Economics Expert

OGDEN, Utah — Weber State University’s John B. Goddard School of Business & Economics will host Juan Llopis on Sept. 8 from noon to 1:15 p.m. to discuss the status of the Spanish economy.

Spain is a eurozone country, one of the 19 out of 28 European Union countries to adopt the euro as its sole currency. Since the beginning of Greece’s economic troubles and talk of a “Grexit” – Greece leaving the eurozone – Spain’s economy also has suffered, with an increase in unemployment and decrease in gross domestic product (GDP).

Since 2013, however, growth has encouraged economists’ outlook for Spain. More drastic improvements in 2014 have helped Spain bounce back significantly.

Llopis is the former business dean and the current vice president for international relations at the University of Alicante. Llopis’ presentation is free and open to the public.

During his visit, WSU will finalize a faculty and student exchange agreement with University of Alicante. Students will be able to study at the University of Alicante for semester-long periods or for shorter summer courses taught in English and Spanish. Faculty will have the opportunity to travel on lecture exchanges.
