English Dept. Offers Free Writing Workshops for Veterans

OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State University Department of English, Weber County Library and the Wasatch Range Writing Project will offer free writing workshops for military veterans starting Sept. 14 at 5 p.m. in the Weber County Library Southwest Branch’s conference room (1950 W. 4800 South, Roy).

The sessions, which will be held every Monday through May 24, excluding holidays, are designed to help military veterans of all eras capture their experiences in writing. "In talking with veterans, many say these workshops give them the incentive they need to write down what they experienced while in the military," said Gary Dohrer, a WSU English professor. "A lot of them have wanted to do this for a long time."

Veterans, who will receive instruction, support and feedback from university faculty at the sessions, are asked to bring their own paper and a writing utensil. For more information, call 801-626-7318.
