"Purple Pandemonium" Planned to Celebrate Start of School

OGDEN, Utah – Weber State University will host the fourth annual Wildcat Block Party for students, faculty, staff and the community on Aug. 29 at the university’s Ogden campus.

The theme of this year’s block party is Purple Pandemonium. The event will feature entertainment, performances, music, food and contests for audiences of all ages.

A pancake breakfast at 8:30 a.m. will kick off the day’s festivities, with campus and community booths opening at 10 a.m. Activities scheduled include a rock climbing wall, concerts by local bands and a pep rally at noon featuring the WSU band. A barbecue lunch will be served beginning at noon.

“With the start of the new school year, there is a lot of excitement on campus,” said Nikki Nicholas, Wildcat Block Party chair. “The block party allows the Weber State community to get involved and start off the new school year right.”

The festivities will culminate “Welcome Week,” the first week of classes during fall semester. Activities are free and open to the public.
