WSU President to Participate in ‘Read With A Child’

OGDEN, Utah – Weber State University will host the “Read with a Child” challenge, April 17, as part of the Week of the Young Child. President Charles A. Wight will read some of his favorite children’s stories to 80 children from approximately 10:15-10:45 a.m. in the McKay Education Building Moench Room 16.

Wight has supported previous Week of the Young Child events on campus. In 2015, Wight and his wife, Victoria Rasmussen, joined children at the Melba S. Lehner Children's School for finger painting.

“President Wight has always shown his support for the children's programming in the Department of Child & Family Studies,” said Sheila Anderson, child & family studies assistant professor. “In his first year as president, he cut the ribbon to open the WSU Charter Academy kindergarten.”

Week of the Young Child events will take place April 16-20 throughout the country. These events are part of a national week of celebrating young children that is organized by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
