WSU Outdoor Program Sponsors Climbing Festival

OGDEN, Utah – Weber State University’s Outdoor Program, Petzl, GEAR:30 and the Front Climbing Club will present the ninth annual Ogden Climbing Festival (OCF9), April 8-9.

OCF9 is the largest climbing festival in Utah. Family friendly events are open to the public and many are free. Novice to experienced climbers of all ages and abilities can learn new rock climbing skills in a safe environment.

“The festival offers something for everybody,” said Daniel Turner, WSU’s Outdoor Program coordinator, “Beginners can participate in introductory clinics and activities. Seasoned climbers can compete, and spectators can observe and enjoy the sport.”

Keynote presenters Mike Libecki and  Alex Puccio will speak on April 8 at 7 p.m. in the Shepherd Union Wildcat Theater. Libecki, 2013 National Geographic Adventurer of the Year, has climbed in more than 50 major expeditions, including a journey to the Afghanistan Koh-i-baba Mountains.
