Hip-Hop Preacher Brings Motivational Message to Weber State

OGDEN, Utah – Drawing on his own experience as a young man living on the streets of Michigan, motivational speaker Eric Thomas will share his message, “Secrets to Success” at Weber State University on April 7.

Raised in poverty and struggling with a personal lack of identity that stemmed from not knowing his biological father, Thomas left home and dropped out of school at 16, choosing to support himself through a life of crime.

His circumstances changed when a pastor recognized his potential and encouraged him to make a difference for himself and others.

Thomas presents his message to groups from high schools to Fortune 500 companies, and will speak at noon in Shepherd Union Ballroom A.

His story of poverty to a PhD is shared widely online at etthehiphoppreacher.com/?page_id=78

His visit is sponsored by the student Science, Technology, Engineering Programs (STEP) club and the Weber State University Student Association.
