
Learn & Work
If you are a Utah resident who is looking for an opportunity to enhance your career or start a new one, funding through the Utah Legislature is available to cover short-term training courses and certificate programs designed to put you on the path to success. Learn & Work is a state-wide program providing tuition assistance for short-term programs at post-secondary institutions, like Weber State. These courses are meant to prepare students for higher-paying, stable, high-impact careers.

Paraeducator Certification Program (PCP)
This program provides a path for a Special Education, Early Childhood, Elementary, Secondary, ESL or bilingual-employed paraeducator personnel to become highly qualified, skilled paraeducators in area schools. Students are able to earn the PCP as a standalone achievement or part of a career plan leading to an associate degree and eventually a teaching license and bachelor’s degree. It combines evidence-based instructional practices with work-based learning opportunities in a targeted training program that increases knowledge, skills and application in classroom settings.

This program is 1-6 semesters/18 credits, available online, blended and in-person during the day and evening.Cost
Tuition and fees are covered, but students pay for books and materials, the cost of which could vary.Applying
Applications are accepted in late spring/early summer. Applicants will be emailed for initial interviews and then informed of next steps. Applicants must attend a mandatory orientation before final acceptance. Admission is based on commitment to the education profession and willingness to serve students in schools as an employed paraeducator.Application Requirements
Must be a Utah resident with a desire to become a paraeducator or increase paraeducator skills Complete Weber State enrollment and application processes.
Pass a Utah background check to work in Utah schools
Submit two letters of recommendation (one from supervisor, one from district-level administrator or principal)
Willingness to work with students who are from diverse backgrounds
High school diploma or equivalency -
Facilities Management Certification
This certificate helps students apply principles of energy management and sustainability to their role in facilities management. Students will gain understanding of administration, leadership and management strategies essential in managing facility functions, in-house staff and contractors. Students will also learn to apply principles of effective long-range facility planning and financial planning concepts associated with facility management.

Open to Utah residents interested in up-skilling their career to facilities management and business operations. No prior knowledge required. -
User Experience (UX) Design Certificate
UX design is a growing interdisciplinary field focusing on the interaction between humans and technology and meaningful design to meet the needs of website, app, product and service users. This course provides students with the hiqh-quality training in design, prototyping, accessibility and user research methods, and will prepare them to work as UX designers and researchers.
Schedule
Starting Aug. 29, classes are held weekdays, both in person and online, through no later than the first block of summer semester 2023. The course is collaborative so attending in person is sometimes required.Cost

Must be a degree-seeking student and Utah resident. No prior knowledge is required but students should have foundational computer literacy skills and operate one at an intermediate level. -
Cybersecurity Essentials Certificate
The demand for cybersecurity experts in the workforce is greatly outpacing the supply. This certificate provides students with the foundational knowledge to become cybersecurity professionals and better understand computing systems, data networks and programming.
Schedule
This certificate can be earned in two or three semesters with many courses offered online or at night. Classes are also available at both the Ogden and Davis campuses.Cost

Open to all Utah residents, no prior knowledge required. -
Beginning SQL
Begin to draw connections between databases with MySQL. This introductory WSU Badge Up course will show you how to install and work with scripts, create a physical database and more. Build a strong foundation for database management.

Intermediate SQL
This course will help you go from a basic understanding of SQL to more advanced knowledge. Learn subqueries, joins, unions, how to make the right kind of query for the right data, aggregate functions, joint predicates and more. Earn a badge to prove your skills to employers.

AWS Cloud Practitioner
Whether you're an IT professional, or entrepreneur who needs to get a handle on your web platform, this program will help prepare you to become a certified Amazon Web Service (AWS) Cloud Practitioner. A full-time WSU faculty member will help you understand and explain the AWS shared responsibility model, security best practices, core AWS services and more.

Moyes Supply Chain Management Professional Certificates
These four certificates were developed to help those in the field of Supply Chain Management contribute at a higher level at their current company. The certificates, which stack on our undergraduate Supply Chain Management minor, are: Purchasing, Logistics, Quality and Business Analytics.
Schedule
The program cannot be completed entirely online. The in-person course requires a commitment from the student to attend classes and participate in required group work outside of class. Each certificate requires successful completion of two for-credit courses along with speakers, events and tours that are intended to expand your understanding and see supply chain management in practice.For each certificate, students must take 4 credits the first semester and 3 credits the second semester. Students must take SCM 3050 (in person at Ogden or Davis, or online) and MIS 1010 (online) in fall 2022.

Students must take part in an advising session prior to registering. Applicants will be interviewed in the order they’ve applied to discuss background, interest, etc. You may be asked to provide references from your current employer.Application Requirements
Utah residents with more than 5 years of supply chain management experience are eligible. Those with a bachelor’s degree in another field who are interested in pursuing a job in supply chain management will also be considered. College-level math and statistics, along with experience with Excel, is preferred. -
Red Barn Return-ship
This program delivers supply chain management education to students to prepare them for entry-level/pre-professional positions in the field. It is a partnership with Red Barn Academy in Farmington, and students earn 6 college credits for the coursework provided with an additional opportunity to earn 3 more credits with an approved internship.
Schedule
Classes are taught one evening per week at Red Barn, and coursework and the expected internship will last approximately 1 year total.Cost

Open to Red Barn Academy residents only. Students are required to have completed high school level math, and college-level math and/or statistics is desired. -
Workforce Ready
This training and mentoring program is for for individuals seeking re-entry into the workforce following a significant gap in their employment. You'll identify your strengths, familiarize yourself with digital work platforms, fine-tune your resume, explore the gig economy and more. This Badge Up course enables you to prove to employers that you're ready to join the workforce.

This seven-week course is held virtually in 2-hour increments on Wednesday mornings. Coursework completed outside of class time will be assigned.Cost
