Residents and International students who plan to enroll at WSU/LEAP need to complete an application for admissions. Applications are reviewed only when all required documents are on file. The application deadline is 60 days prior to the start of the semester the student plans to attend.              

United States Residents

Admission Requirements:

US residents who score 16 or below on the English portion of the ACT test or who have no ACT score are required to take the LEAP Placement Test. Students who score 90 or above on BOTH the Reading Comprehension and Language Usage portions of the Accuplacer test may register for English 1010. They must take the LEAP Placement Test and complete the appropriate courses according to the test results before registering for English 1010.

International Students

International students are not able to apply for admissions over the internet. To apply for admissions, you can download the admissions application here.

International Students can verify their English proficiency by submitting a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score or an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score. Students must have an IELTS score of 6.0 with minimum of 5.0 on each sub scale to register for English 1010. Students with an IELTS score below 6 and who have no TOEFL score, or a score less than 500 on the paper version, 173 on the computer version or 61 on the internet-based version can be admitted to WSU on the condition that they take the LEAP Placement Exam and complete the appropriate courses according to the test results. Upon completion, students are able to register for academic classes.                                                                                        


The Services for International Student Center at WSU will issue a Certificate of Eligibility (I-20 form) to international students who meet the admissions requirements. The I-20 will automatically be issued once the student is admitted to the university.

Health Insurance
Weber State University requires international students to maintain health insurance. International students are automatically enrolled in the Weber State University international student health insurance plan provided through Relation Insurance. If you have question about Health Insurance, click here.
