Welcome to The LEAP Department (Learning English for Academic Purposes)
Last updated: March 30, 2020 — (10 a.m. MDT)
After consultation with deans, faculty senate leadership and administrators, Weber State University has decided to hold our summer session as scheduled (May 4-Aug. 7). We plan to offer all our courses online or in a virtual format.
While we recognize that many of you long for a return to in-person classroom instruction, it is impossible to know how soon that might occur. With summer registration opening for students on Monday, March 30, it was imperative that we make this decision now in order to give students ample time to make decisions related to summer semester. https://www.weber.edu/coronavirus

The Weber State University LEAP Department (Learning English for Academic Purposes) provides intensive English language courses for students in the process of acquiring English as a second language for academic use. It is the mission of the Department to prepare these students to function effectively in mainstream academic classes where English is the language of instruction. In doing so, we also seek to familiarize students with American culture and the academic atmosphere of studying in an American university.
You can complete the LEAP Program in one to three semesters.
